Smooth as a Babies....

Today was a pretty good day. We didn't get up will 9 and we hung out around the house, watched some movies and did some shopping for makeup for the wedding.
Two words: Chaotic, and WTF (if that counts as one word)

Jillian had lab so me and Marley went to Pecan Park to play some frisbee. Till that HUGE storm came through and we had to run to the car! But Marley is on the right track, I gave her a frisbee and she didn't let it go for an hour!

So i'm sure your still wondering about the title.
While i was giving marley a bath tonight and i started goof'n around and i shaved. I started to do just the usual area but then i got a little exploratory and i shaved off my goatee and sideburns which ive been growning for like 4 or 5 months. Lets just say i could grow a beard for a million dollars. ANNNNDD....jillian hasn't noticed yet.....Show how much she cares...

The Big Fancy $72 Piece of Paper

Today me and Jillian went down to the county clerks office and picked up our marriage license. Its a legal length piece of paper that uses 30 different fonts and to say that me and Jillian are legally married(soon).i can't believe that they charge that much for it, but its well worth it(jllian would want me to say that).Just kidding. I'm really ready for this to get here. We have probably 20 or more people coming than originaly planned! I sure hope the weather is good so that we don't have 70 people all packed inside!

AAAAAaaaaannnnndddd.....the honeymoon will be just around the corner.WOOT! A cabin just a few miles from Beavers Bend State Park in Oklahoma....Ahhhhhhhh.(with a hottub on the backporch! Bow-Chika-Wow-Wow!!!)

More info and photos here> http://www.hiddenhillscabinsok.com/cabins_cole_creek.html

I also made 2 more flies for the trip this Friday!

On the Army side of life I have been exercising and doign my online training and im going to have to start meeting up with my recruiter to do some training drills(UGHHHHH!!!) so that i can start as an E-2 instead of E-1.We'll see how that goes.

Past Fishing Trips...

Back in july me and Jillians step-dad went to Rockport to do some redfish fishing and I brought my fly rod along just to see if i could catch something, since i had had it for a year and never caught anything yet.

Well Friday night went something like this> <(NADA!) Saturday morning me and Joel took out the kayaks and went into the shallow grasslands and left David in the boat.Me and Joel got into a school of Black Drum and tore them up using spinner reels.

Now all the while me and joel were wondering why the hell david hadn't called us yet to come back, it had been atleast 3 hours since we spoke to him. So we packed up once we had our limit and headed back to the bay. Turns out David in the past hour or so had a little luck himself

He caught 3 Reds coming out of the grassland at low tide and he sure was giddy about it.

So our morning catch turned out something like this>

David with his 3 redfish and me with the Black drum and a look at the Haul on the dock.

That night Davids neighbor Eddie came with us and we went back out and stayed in the boat and fished at the entrance to where we got into the black drum. and the nights haul looked something like this>

So all in all we caught 11 Reds and 10 Blacks the VERY FIRST DAY OF FISHING!!!!

Sunday morning is when i decided to take out my fly rod and see if i could get some black drum with it. After all i had some luck the Saturday night on the docks with the Sea Trout.

And i would have to say i had the greatest time of my life. I caught a 25", 23" and 1 black drum....before my reel broke. I kind of expected it though since my reel was a plastic Martin Taffy 63(a 5/6th weight reel and light action pole). But man was I officially addicted to fly fishing.
Joel all so caught a few blacks that morning too but I was so stunned that i ACTUALLY CAUGHT FISH ON MY FLY-ROD that i didn't even get pictures of my catch!!!!

Sunday night went great too, i know we got more than this but this is the only picture i took. I think its Joel's 28 inch Red.

I had the greatest time ever! There was a group of Fly-Fishers from Austin staying in the Rent house that David owns next door and they said the fish i caught would have won prizes.Man were they hyping me up!
He took my address and sent me a package a few weeks later with 2 fly reels and a fly tying vice and some tools and a book. The mans name was Dave and apparently he has a fly shop or something in Austin, and hes part of the Austin Fly Fishers Club. I can't believe i lost his address and could't send him a thank you letter or anything. But since then i have started tying a few flies.
I will leave for Rockport This coming Friday to do some fly fishing with my dad.I just hope we have half as good a trip as me and Joel did.I just want my dad to catch 1 red. I wouldn't even care if I didn't catch any.

Saturdays Shananigans...

Saturday was the Red River Revel Festival in Shreveport Louisiana. This is just a taste of how the drive was about to go. But once we got there she was happy. The festival is a huge Cajun art festival with tons of booths with anywhere from "24 million year old fossilized fish" to Red fish sculptures made of bottle lids.
The only bad part was that it involved tonns of walking!....and having to lug MJ around and her stroller.
But i haven't been in probably 8 years so I was glad we went.( you see those benches were sitting on?...when i was little we put the tiles in one of those, but i couldn't find it while we were there)
Over all the day was great. Mary and Noah-Beth had fun spending time with Marley and me and Jillian got to spend some time with each other. We had never been anywhere like that together and Marley has never been out of Texas.MY BABIES GROWING UP!!!!....whats next!? Oklahoma? YUP!!!!

Our honeymoon is in OK and I absolutely can't wait!

I cant wait:
go Fly-fishing with my dad,
go fishing with Joel,
to get married,
go on the honeymoon,
go fly-fishing in OK just like you see on the movies!!
and to enjoy our amazing cabin we rented...hot tub and all.

To get ready for all that fishing.

I've started tying my own flies!
So far only about 6 but i think they are decent flies and i hope they work.

I'm enjoying it a lot more than i thought i would. I just need to get some more supplies to vary the outcomes.
