Well Friday night went something like this> <(NADA!) Saturday morning me and Joel took out the kayaks and went into the shallow grasslands and left David in the boat.Me and Joel got into a school of Black Drum and tore them up using spinner reels.
Now all the while me and joel were wondering why the hell david hadn't called us yet to come back, it had been atleast 3 hours since we spoke to him. So we packed up once we had our limit and headed back to the bay. Turns out David in the past hour or so had a little luck himself

He caught 3 Reds coming out of the grassland at low tide and he sure was giddy about it.
So our morning catch turned out something like this>
David with his 3 redfish and me with the Black drum and a look at the Haul on the dock.

That night Davids neighbor Eddie came with us and we went back out and stayed in the boat and fished at the entrance to where we got into the black drum. and the nights haul looked something like this>

So all in all we caught 11 Reds and 10 Blacks the VERY FIRST DAY OF FISHING!!!!
Sunday morning is when i decided to take out my fly rod and see if i could get some black drum with it. After all i had some luck the Saturday night on the docks with the Sea Trout.
And i would have to say i had the greatest time of my life. I caught a 25", 23" and 1 black drum....before my reel broke. I kind of expected it though since my reel was a plastic Martin Taffy 63(a 5/6th weight reel and light action pole). But man was I officially addicted to fly fishing.
Joel all so caught a few blacks that morning too but I was so stunned that i ACTUALLY CAUGHT FISH ON MY FLY-ROD that i didn't even get pictures of my catch!!!!
Sunday night went great too, i know we got more than this but this is the only picture i took. I think its Joel's 28 inch Red.

I had the greatest time ever! There was a group of Fly-Fishers from Austin staying in the Rent house that David owns next door and they said the fish i caught would have won prizes.Man were they hyping me up!
He took my address and sent me a package a few weeks later with 2 fly reels and a fly tying vice and some tools and a book. The mans name was Dave and apparently he has a fly shop or something in Austin, and hes part of the Austin Fly Fishers Club. I can't believe i lost his address and could't send him a thank you letter or anything. But since then i have started tying a few flies.
I will leave for Rockport This coming Friday to do some fly fishing with my dad.I just hope we have half as good a trip as me and Joel did.I just want my dad to catch 1 red. I wouldn't even care if I didn't catch any.
